Mechanical Engineer

Looking for a motivated and enthusiastic employee to help complete the mechanical design of 1st Detect Corps miniature mass spectrometer product. Design tasks include Modifying the device enclosure to bring it to the product level, including thermal dissipation, vibration isolation and ease of serviceability and manufacturability. Other mechanical design tasks include optimizing our chemical preconcentrator design, as well as redesigning the core vacuum chamber to improve performance and serviceability. Will work under the direction of the Lead Mechanical Engineer.

Requirements:
  • 3 to 8 years of mechanical design experience.
  • Proficient in Solidworks (Pro-E is a possible alternative)
  • Ability to deliver quality design work under a tight schedule
  • Experience or know how in designing for manufacturability
  • Self starter with creativity and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to solve design problems independently
Desirable experience:
  • Vacuum system hardware design (vacuum fittings, plumbing, valves, etc)
  • Thermal dissipation design
  • Electronics enclosure design
  • Comsol Multiphysics package
  • Thermal, stress, vibration, or flow simulation
  • Mass spectrometer experience
  • Product certifications (UL, CSA, etc.)

Electrical Engineer

Enthusiastic self starter needed to further the digital design portion of 1st Detect's miniature chemical detector products. 1st Detect is a spinoff company developing a revolutionary chemical detector to service a billion dollar market potential. This is an opportunity to join a company with tremendous growth potential on the ground floor. Candidate must be self motivated, enthusiastic, and able to operate under a tight schedule.

Primary Job functions (Required Experience):
  • 3 to 10 years experience and Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar.
  • FPGA design experience
    • Including RTL (register transfer logic) coding
    • Xilinx Spartan experience preferred
  • Experience designing digital and analog circuits from schematic capture, through board layout, testing, and validation.
  • Hardware design experience with IIC, SPI, 10/100 Ethernet, parallel data busses
Secondary functions (Preferred Experience):
  • Works with contract manufacturers for PCB assembly and test
  • Work with technicians to create and maintain cabling instructions and documentation.
  • Embedded System Design Experience (including architecture design)
  • Writing C/assembly code for ARM7, Cortex-M processors
  • PCB Design for high speed digital interfaces, including 100 MSPS A/D and D/A circuits and DDR2 memory interfaces.
Preferred Software Experience:
  • MATLAB analysis tools
  • Altium Designer
  • working knowledge of source code repositories and/or document control
